spacer spacer The Zoo

When your mother says “What's wrong with you?”,
Do you ever think what it's like to be in a zoo
Having bars and wire facing you each day,
Eating scraps of meat or feed or new mown hay.
Just how does a tiger count the time
Watching the monkeys as they frolic, screech and climb;
And what about those perky silver foxes
Always caged in those silly little boxes?
Ah but you have to love it,
It comes only to the few;
And you have to enfold it,
The life the Lord has given you.

At least the elephant gets to work,
Pushing, holding, and hauling where danger may lurk;
Nearby the snowy white owl only watches,
Longing to fly over Artic tundra swatches.
So when next your mother seems in doubt
Wondering if your actions deserve a "good clout",
Take time to reflect and not hold remorse,
She's but ruling with the love you'll learn to endorse.
And yes, you have to love it,
It comes only to the few;
And you have to enfold it,
The life the Lord has given you.
